About Ross
Ross practices in the Litigation, Intellectual Property and Environmental sections and serves as Chair of the firm’s Environmental Law Section. He concentrates on resolving business disputes involving intellectual property, antitrust, environmental, business torts and contractual matters. Ross has argued landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits. He has tried numerous environmental, antitrust, business tort, construction and intellectual property cases. He also has an active administrative law practice before the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), the Alabama Environmental Management Commission.
Admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1972, Ross is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Environmental Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. He is also active in the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Committee of the Section of Litigation. Ross is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and was selected for inclusion in Alabama Super Lawyers 2008 and 2009.
Ross is a member of the Birmingham Rotary Club and has served on its Board of Directors. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Ross received his B.S. in 1969 from Washington & Lee University, and his J.D. in 1972 from the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.
What is your favorite thing about the law?
It gives structure to people dealing with each other.
What community projects are you involved in?
I am involved with the Alabama Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Birmingham Rotary Club.
What was your first job?
Construction laborer.
What are your hobbies?
Scuba diving, tennis and golf.

Playing tennis and golf.
