About Rick

Rick practices in the firm’s Commercial Litigation, Securities Litigation, Health Care and Government Investigations and Enforcement sections. He has represented clients on a wide range of litigation matters, including commercial, securities, banking, antitrust, health care and white collar criminal issues.

Rick has represented financial institutions in class actions involving on-line bond trading services and pricing of initial public offerings as well as arbitrations relation to customer disputes. He also has represented health insurers in cases relating to reimbursement practices for providers and members. Rick is experienced in conducting internal investigations and managing government investigations. In addition, he has served as interim general counsel for a regional health insurer and has worked as interim in-house counsel for a multi-national manufacturing and services company.

Rick received his Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. Rick is admitted to practice in Alabama, New Jersey and New York. In addition to his law practice, he has also been named to the 2009 class for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Committee for the Future, an interactive, in-hospital leadership initiative aimed at informing and educating civic and corporate leaders about the mission and vision of Children’s Hospital.

What community projects are you involved in? I was the founding chairman of the Junior Advisory Board for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and a Board Member of the Volunteer Center of Bergen County.

What was your first job? Newspaper delivery, Newark Star Ledger

What are your hobbies? Fly fishing, baseball, American history

What advice would you give to a young student in law school? Get to know your classmates. Not only will it make law school more bearable, but you never know who you’ll run into down the road.

How do you define a “good day”? At work, a good day is when I can help a client find a solution to a difficult problem. At home, a good day is any day spent with my wife and kids.
