Our attorneys and staff donate their personal time, funds and talents for the greater good of the community. These activities include providing legal assistance to individuals in financial need, raising money for organizations devoted to cancer research, collecting food to battle hunger, and mentoring youth in the community.
In April 2022, several Burr offices participated in the firm’s Social Justice Volunteerism Program food drive that raised $3000 and collected non-perishable foods for local charities. Firm donations supported the work the following organizations.
The firm that became Burr & Forman was established in Birmingham, AL in 1905 as Percy & Benners by John Walker Percy, a Mississippi native and grandfather of the prized novelist of the same name, and Augustus Benners, a prominent local politician. In 1909, the pair brought on Borden Burr to fill the need for a strong trial lawyer. James R. Forman, a University of Alabama star athlete, joined the firm in 1918. During the next several decades, the firm evolved to include other partners and mergers. In 1986, the firm adopted and institutionalized the name Burr & Forman.
