Chris Thompson

Chris Thompson is a litigator in the firm's Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy practice group. His practice is focused on representing creditors and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings and in state and federal court litigation.

Before joining Burr & Forman, Chris worked at a boutique Orlando law firm that specializes in sophisticated Chapter 11 debtor representation. He has represented clients on corporate restructurings and all aspects of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and adversary proceedings, including 363 sales and fraudulent transfer litigation. He has also represented creditors and assignees in assignment for the benefit of creditors proceedings under Florida Law. In addition to his bankruptcy practice, Chris has significant commercial litigation experience, including jury trial experience.

Chris was the President of the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association for 2020.  He is the former Chair of the Communications Committee of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar and is an active member of the Bankruptcy/UCC Committee of the Business Law Section. Chris was the Chair of the Steering Committee for the Bench/Bar Conference of the Middle District of Florida Bankruptcy Courts for 2022 and 2023, after serving as a Committee Member from 2019-2021. Before joining his prior firm, Chris served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Karen S. Jennemann, Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Chris has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America in the area of Bankruptcy Litigation in 2021. Chris has been selected as a Florida Super Lawyer “Rising Star” in the field of Business Bankruptcy in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. He was also selected to participate in the Next Generation Program at the 89^th National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges Annual Meeting held in Miami Beach in 2015.
