Overview

Rion's practice focuses on public finance and structured finance for all types of issuers and investment banks. He works with public, nonprofit, and for-profit corporate entities, including but not limited to, large public power utility authorities, housing authorities, student loan authorities, infrastructure bank transportation agencies, hospitals, educational institutions, port facility authorities, airport facility authorities, and other state and local governmental bodies. In providing these services typical roles include serving as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter's counsel, placement agent counsel and issuer's counsel.

Rion has an LL.M. in taxation from New York University and focuses on Section 103 tax issues, especially arbitrage, refundings, and private activity bonds. He is responsible for delivering tax opinions in all areas of tax-exempt finance and handles tax controversy representation in audits of outstanding bond issues by the Internal Revenue Service. 

Rion has invested significant time in building long-term relationships which allows clients to lean on him heavily and delegate the most complicated of issues. When not in the office, Rion spends time with his family and enjoys snow skiing, surfing, and exercising.

Rion earned his LL.M., in taxation, from New York University, his J.D. from the University of South Carolina, and his B.S. from the University of South Carolina.
