David Dowd Newest Burr Partner to Become a Certified Information Privacy Professional

Firm News

Birmingham partner David Dowd recently passed the IAPP CIPP/US exam to become a certified privacy professional. David is the third partner from Burr & Forman to receive his certification. Dowd joins fellow Birmingham partners Beth Shirley and India Vincent who also have their certifications. The CIPP/US certification identifies David, Beth and India as premier privacy professionals.

The Certified Information Privacy Professional/US is offered by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the designation requires the individual to demonstrate an understanding of principles-based framework and a knowledge base in information privacy in the U.S. context. The topics covered throughout the exam range from privacy laws and standards to data breach response methodology.

At Burr, David practices in the firm’s Corporate and Tax Practice Group and previously served for several years as the leader of that Practice Group. He has extensive experience in transactions in the manufacturing, distribution, solar energy, health care, and telecommunications industries, and involving distressed businesses. In addition, David has wide-ranging experience with representing buyers and sellers of businesses in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
