Derek Meek Named Global President of Turnaround Management Association

Birmingham partner Derek Meek was recently named the 2020 Global President of the Turnaround Managing Association (TMA). Beginning January 1, 2020, Meek will serve a one-year term as president over the corporate restructuring organization, which boasts nearly 10,000 members internationally.

 “I am ready to begin my term as president of TMA and am honored by the opportunity. I’ve personally witnessed TMA’s prominence grow significantly in the lives and careers of so many restructuring professionals, and the industry as a whole, and I’m excited to help continue that momentum,” said Meek. “As president, I plan to focus on the relationship between TMA Global and the individual chapters, including our growing international chapters.”

Meek’s TMA involvement includes leadership roles at the local, regional, and global levels of the organization. At his local chapter, TMA Alabama, he served as Chapter President in 2016. At the Global level, he has served in several leadership roles, including Corporate Secretary, Vice President of Chapter Relations, and Chapter President’s Council Chair.

“Derek has been an engaged and dedicated member of TMA for many years, having served in multiple roles at the chapter and global levels, making him well situated for a successful tenure as president,” said TMA Global CEO Scott Y. In addition, he was recently recognized for his work in the turnaround space by being invited to join the American College of Bankruptcy in which he will be inducted into as a Fellow next March in Washington, D.C.
