Four of Burr's Female Partners Featured in B-Metro's 2020 Top Women Attorneys List

Birmingham Partners Ginger Busby, Rachel Friedman, Angie Smith, and India Vincent have been recognized as Top Women Attorneys by B-Metro. The feature identifies women across the Birmingham metro area who have successful legal careers and who also demonstrate a commitment to their community and the law. The list will be announced in the magazine’s August issue.

Ginger Busby regularly represents clients in evaluating risk, developing strategy, and represents her clients in ligation. She has acted as national counsel for several insurances and manufacturing clients to direct litigation strategy and ensure efficiency. Ginger regularly handles employment, insurance, and commercial disputes including defending various types of class action litigation. She currently serves as Chair of the firm’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and the Chairperson of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

As a member of the Financial Services Litigation Practice Group, Rachel Friedman specializes in defending financial institutions from alleged violations of state and federal consumer protection laws at both the trial and appellate levels. Rachel represents financial institutions such as banks, mortgage lenders, credit card companies, auto finance companies, and debt buyers/collectors in consumer lawsuits filed under various state and federal laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Truth-in-Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

Angie Smith is a Partner in the firm's Health Care Industry Group where she devotes her practice to defending health care providers against medical malpractice claims as well as defending health care providers in false claims litigation. In addition to her health care litigation practice, Angie assists health care providers with navigating federal and state laws directly impacting the health care industry, including but not limited to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”), the state of Alabama’s certificate of need laws, and Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

India Vincent’s practice is devoted to helping clients identify, protect, and generate maximum value from their intellectual property and helping clients develop and implement policies and procedures to protect their data and respond to cyber incidents. India chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property and Cybersecurity Practice Group, and actively participates in the firm’s Corporate Transactions Group as well as the Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and Electronic Transactions focus team. She earned her CIPP/US certification to become a Certified Privacy Professional.
