People Matter

At Burr & Forman, People Matter! It’s the people who make up our organization and make it successful. Our people build relationships with our clients, learn about the client’s business in order to help the clients meet their goals, and work together to obtain the best results for our clients. Finally, our people care – about our clients, about our community, and about each other. Burr maintains a culture of respect, and strong values:

Trust – We work to build and maintain a high level of trust between all individuals within the firm — between partners, attorneys, management, and support staff, as well as with clients.

Mutual Respect – Mutual respect is exemplified in how we interact and treat each other and our clients. At Burr, everyone has an important role. It takes everyone working together to keep us moving forward effectively.

Genuine Concern for the Well-being of Others – Burr cares about its people. For example, our award-winning wellness program encourages employees to work with each other toward a healthy lifestyle. Our new hire orientation is highly rated and helps new people immediately feel at ease at the firm. Burr also celebrates employees’ milestones, such as monthly birthday celebrations, service recognition, and retirement receptions. Our people also show how much they care about each other on a daily basis. When an individual experiences illness or loss, it is common for him or her to receive numerous cards, calls, and visits of encouragement, as well as weekly meals provided by friends at the firm. The managing partner is known for visiting team members who are hospitalized. The firm also offers a shared leave policy which enables staff to donate hours or days of paid leave to fellow employees who are facing catastrophic illnesses.

Integrity and Professionalism – These qualities are important in creating a level of confidence and dependability among co-workers, and also in working with clients who expect and appreciate a professional approach and appearance.

Communication – We strive to maintain open lines of communication throughout all departments and teams allowing us to fully understand issues and to work toward resolutions.

Balanced Leadership – Our firm is made up of diverse individuals with varying commitments. Our leadership understands the importance of proper work/home balance. They not only show compassion, but also help mentor those who struggle with balancing the two. Members of the firm’s leadership team have an open door policy. They are approachable and easy to talk to, and they take the time to listen.

Employer of Choice – We want our people to feel confident that they are at an organization where people stick around. We want people who are looking for a place to call “home,” a place where they can make a worthwhile contribution, a place where they can work to provide for their families and complete their careers all the way to retirement. Our culture is evidenced by the many accolades we have received such as: Best Place to Work, Most Admired Company, and Healthiest Employer, among others.

People Matter. It’s not a new philosophy but one that many organizations forget about; however, Burr does not. We know that our people make results happen, and we appreciate every one of them.
