Birmingham Business Journal: Special Q&A with Bryance Metheny on Overtime Laws

Articles / Publications

In an article published on Dec. 30, 2016 by the Birmingham Business Journal, Bryance Metheny answers a series of questions on when the overtime law regulations will come into play and what to expect with these new regulations. When asked if the new overtime laws will ever take effect, Metheny explains, "It is difficult to imagine a Labor secretary less likely to continue the government's appeal of the injunction. And given Trump's commitment to an agenda designed to roll back regulations throughout government, the new Labor secretary's first day in office likely is the last day these minimum salary threshold regulations will exist." When asked if there are other labor and employment regulations that could change due to Trump's victory, Metheny replies, "Any action that was not passed through formal legislative act but is a mere rule or interpretation implemented through agency action or guidance is vulnerable."
