Burr Adds Financial Litigation Attorney in Ft. Lauderdale
Previously an associate at Philadelphia-based Blank & Rome LLP, Sweeney joins Burr & Forman's Financial Services Litigation practice group. His addition follows the firm's steady growth across Florida, including its recent combination with Williams, Schifino, Mangione & Steady in Tampa.
"Florida is a growing market for many of our clients," said Lee Thuston, managing partner of Burr & Forman LLP. "Adding talented attorneys to our Florida offices allows us to better understand our clients' needs and the unique characteristics of the region. Brendan is an excellent addition to our team and will boost the firms' Financial Services Litigation offerings in South Florida."
Sweeney represents public and private clients in commercial litigation matters, involving all aspects of construction, real estate, business and green development law. He has extensive experience advising financial clients in consumer finance litigation matters in state, district and federal bankruptcy courts and routinely handles claims relating to residential mortgage loan interests, contested foreclosure and servicing issues.
Sweeney is an active member of the Florida Green Building Coalition and the U.S. Green Building Council. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, and both his law degree and LLM from the University of Miami School of Law.
