This prestigious elected position is awarded to just six practicing lawyers from each of the seven congressional districts in the state of Alabama.

The Alabama Law Institute works closely with the Legislative Reference Service in the annual proper placement and codification acts passed by the Legislature within the Code of Alabama. The Legislative Reference Service prepares the vast majority of bills for each session for the Legislature, while major code revision work, such as revision of an entire section of law, is handled by the Alabama Law Institute.
