Burr & Forman's Warren Matthews to Chair Alabama Board of Bar Examiners
Montgomery, AL. - Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce that Warren C. Matthews, managing partner of the firm's Montgomery office, has been selected as chairman of the Alabama Board of Bar Examiners, which serves as the governing body for the admission process of the Alabama State Bar. In this role, Matthews will supervise and direct the activities of the board. He was appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the Alabama State Bar.

Matthews is highly involved with several local and national professional organizations. He currently serves on the Alabama Federal Tax Clinic's board of directors, as well as the Alabama Law Institute's Nonprofit Corporation Committee. Previously, he chaired the Tax Section of the Alabama State Bar. On the national level, he is currently a member of the American Bar Association's Exempt Organizations Committee.
Matthews also extends his leadership to benefit his community. He is the past chairman for the YMCA and Fort Dale Academy in Greenville, Ala. He also serves on the board of trustees for the Greenville First United Methodist Church.
At Burr & Forman, Matthews is Co-Chairman of the Manufacturing Industry Group and his practice focuses on economic development, state and local taxation, governmental affairs, nonprofit entities, partnership taxation, and tax dispute counseling and advocacy. He works extensively with domestic and foreign companies to secure economic and tax incentives for manufacturing facilities to help bring their business to Alabama.
Matthews earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, his law degree from Vanderbilt University and his LL. M. in taxation from New York University.
