Burr’s Chris Thompson Elected President of the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association
Orlando partner Chris Thompson will serve as the 2020 president for the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association (CFBLA). As president, Chris is responsible for leading the CFBLA’s Board of Directors. In his role, he will also oversee the organization’s strategy and goals for the upcoming year. Throughout his tenure, Chris has served on the Board of Directors, held the position of secretary and served as the vice president.
The Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association is a non-profit organization that supports the collegial and professional practice of bankruptcy law in the Orlando Division of the Middle District of Florida. This is done through continuing education and service to the bench, bar and community. The organization serves all bankruptcy practitioners in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Brevard counties.
Chris is a litigator in the firm's Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy practice group. His practice is focused on representing creditors and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings and in state and federal court litigation. Before joining Burr & Forman, Chris worked at a boutique Orlando law firm specializing in sophisticated Chapter 11 debtor representation. He has represented clients on corporate restructurings and all aspects of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and adversary proceedings, including 363 sales and fraudulent transfer litigation. He has also represented creditors and assignees in assignment for the benefit of creditors proceedings under Florida Law. In addition to his bankruptcy practice, Chris has significant commercial litigation experience, including jury trial experience.
