Burr's Debra Mackey Named President of Southern Employee Benefits Conference
Mackey was previously vice-president of the SEBC and will serve as president for a one-year term, effective Oct. 1, 2013. As president, Mackey will oversee the organization's educational structure and ensure its members maintain the highest professional standards in the employee benefits industry.
At Burr, Mackey brings more than 25 years of experience assisting clients with the tax and fiduciary aspects of employee benefits including welfare benefits, COBRA and HIPAA compliance for health plans, fringe benefits, executive compensation and ERISA litigation defense.
Mackey is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the American Bar and the Birmingham Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Gulf Coast TE/GE Council and the Alabama Profit Sharing/401K Council. Mackey received her B.A. from the University of Alabama and her J.D. and L.L.M. from the University of Alabama School of Law.
