Burr's Denise Dell Powell Appointed to Orange County's Children and Family Services Board
Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce that Orlando partner Denise D. Dell-Powell has been appointed by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners to its Children and Family Services Board. In this role, she will advise on a number of issues related to the provision of services for children, youth and families, and will advocate for those who require the services of the division.
Dell-Powell's leadership experience has spanned a number of organizations, including The Florida Bar, the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.
In her legal practice, Dell-Powell counsels financial institutions on matters related to bankruptcy, creditors' rights, distressed property and inventory finance litigation. She also works with clients in the hospitality, restaurant and citrus industries on a variety of litigation matters.
Dell-Powell is the recipient of numerous accolades from her peers, including honors from Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University and her law degree from Mercer University School of Law.
The powers and duties of the Children and Family Services Board include assisting the county in obtaining donations to benefit the children of Great Oaks Village and other county programs operated by the Youth and Family Services Division; advising the Board of County Commissioners with respect to donations made to benefit the children of Great Oaks Village or other residential facilities and programs operated under the division; advising the Board of County Commissioners and the County Administrator regarding the provision of services to children, youth and families by the division; and to advocate for children and families in Orange County, especially those who require the services of the division.
