Burr's Nancy Fouad Carey Elected to Serve as President for the UAB National Alumni Society
Burr & Forman Birmingham partner Nancy Fouad-Carey was recently elected to serve as president for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society. The Alumni Society has more than 10,000 members and 63 chapters. Nancy will serve a one year term as President.
The National Alumni Society is a non-profit organization originally formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes for the promotion of UAB and its alumni. Throughout the year, the Society hosts a number of events as a part of its mission to engage alumni including Uncork Education, the Scholarship Run 5K/10K, Excellence in Business Top 25, and Rising Star Awards. The Society also does fundraising for student scholarships in partnership with the UAB community. Already in 2018, over 40 scholarships have been awarded to more than 120 students.
Nancy has previously served on the Board of Directors in various roles for the UAB National Alumni Society since 2012.
At Burr, Nancy practices in the firm's Corporate and Construction Practice Groups, representing clients in the construction, manufacturing, supply and distribution industries. Nancy has extensive experience in advising clients in these industries on a wide range of corporate, commercial contract, and construction matters. Nancy assists her clients in the formation and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts and also assists her clients with all aspects of contract and construction related claims and disputes, representing clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
