TAMPA, June 2, 2021 – Burr & Forman LLP Tampa-based partner Jacqueline Simms-Petredis has been elected to serve as president-elect of the Hillsborough County Bar Association (HCBA). She was sworn in during a hybrid in-person and remote event on June 2 and will serve a one-year term before succeeding Cory Person as president in 2022. Prior to assuming her role as president-elect, Simms-Petredis served three consecutive two-year terms on the HCBA board of directors beginning in June 2015.

“I am truly honored for this opportunity to continue serving an organization as dedicated to advancing the profession, its members and the Tampa community as the Hillsborough County Bar Association in this capacity,” Simms-Petredis said. “HCBA has had such an impact on me and my career, and it is my pleasure to continue giving back in any way that I can.”

At Burr & Forman, Simms-Petredis serves as a Partner in the firm’s Financial Services group with a focus on financial litigation and compliance. She assists clients federal, state and bankruptcy court, as well as in arbitration. She advises clients and in-house counsel in litigation arising under the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Florida Consumer Collections Practices Act, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, among others. She is also a past-president of the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

Simms-Petredis earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from the Tulane University School of Law.
