Patten Seed Company Relocating Corporate Headquarters to Charleston County

Firm News

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Patten Seed Company, one of the largest turfgrass producers in the Southeast, announced this week plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to Charleston County from Lakeland, Georgia. The company’s $2.2 million investment will create 40 new jobs.

Expanding its South Carolina footprint, Patten Seed is relocating to an existing facility at 22 Westedge Street in Charleston, which centralizes it’s senior management team. Operations are expected to be online by the first quarter of this year.

According to a South Carolina Department of Commerce announcement, Patten Seed Company CEO Ben Copeland Jr. said, “Charleston County is central to our current footprint throughout the southeastern United States. As we continue to grow, it was important to centralize the senior management team and take advantage of a more robust hiring market and Charleston County fits that need well. Vibrant companies need vibrant cities.”

John F. Wall IV acted as legal counsel for Patten Seed Company on this project, assisting the company with negotiating and implementing tax incentive packages and other due diligence matters.
