John Wall Named to the South Carolina Supreme Court Pro Bono Honor Roll
Burr & Forman is pleased to announce that John F. Wall, IV has been named to the 2022 South Carolina Supreme Court Pro Bono Honor Roll. The Pro Bono Honor Roll recognizes lawyers who have provided 50 or more hours of pro bono legal services in a calendar year.
Service has long been one of John's core values. Before embarking on his legal journey, he served in the United States Army, where he was deployed on five combat rotations overseas. In addition to serving our country, John takes great pride in serving the state and his local community by working with various veteran organizations, state working groups, and with his church (Shandon Baptist). In 2022, John logged more than 87 hours of pro bono work between the South Carolina Department of Veteran Affairs, SGM Pat Payne, West Point Society of Columbia, and the South Carolina Bar Military & Veterans' Law Section Council.
"John’s commitment to Veterans in South Carolina has been critical to the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs as we developed our plan to identify and support a state-wide workforce development program," said Dave Rozelle, Director of Operations for the organization. "His experience and connections in manufacturing and his relationship with Commerce enabled us to effectively plan and execute four regional Veteran employment fairs that were uniquely created for the 'Thriving Veteran.' This selfless service created opportunities for Veterans that are truly uncommon and has been instrumental in our strategic plan for workforce development."
Major General (Ret.) Will Grimsley, former South Carolina Secretary of Veterans' Affairs, also commented on John's dedication to service by saying, "John Wall’s exceptional and professional work on behalf of our military members, Veterans, and their families is exceptional. He brings a deep level of expertise and dedication, coupled with his passion for service that yields tremendous results. No surprise given his own service that he is such a superb and selfless servant.”
John brings the same enthusiasm to serving his clients. As Counsel in the firm’s Government Relations practice group, he assists a diverse group of domestic and international clients with economic development advice and government affairs representation at the local and state level. As a leader of the firm’s Economic Development team, he has experience assisting manufacturers, real estate developers, and warehouse/distribution facilities with securing state and local tax incentives, grants, and tax exemptions.
When he’s not in the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife (Rachael) and their two young children (Piper & Jack) –– you can find them around town at the local parks, the Riverbanks Zoo, or fishing on various rivers, lakes, and ponds around the state.
