What Should Be in a Vaccination Policy - SHRM Online
Emily Mack was quoted in an August 2, 2021 article published by the Society for Human Resource Management discussing employer vaccination policies. As employers face renewed challenges for managing safe operations as the Delta variant of COVID-19 spreads, Mack shared considerations for employees who choose not to get vaccinated for medical or religious reasons and request an exemption or accommodation from a mandatory vaccine policy.
Ideally, employees wouldn’t notify immediate supervisors of the need for accommodation, but instead HR or someone outside of their direct reporting line, Mack said. “The employer should advise employees that they may be required to substantiate any request for an exemption by providing appropriate documentation,” she added.
