Overview
Dr. Zayn Mohamed is an IP and life sciences lawyer passionate about helping those in the medical innovation space. Dr. Mohamed brings experience in protecting and managing intellectual property portfolios, licensing and business transactions, and state and federal litigation. He is familiar with prosecution and proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, having regularly assisted physicians and other inventors with applying for patents in the U.S. and internationally. He has also advised clients on regulatory and FDA matters, such as pharmaceutical compounding and device classification. In addition to being a life sciences and patent attorney, Dr. Mohamed is also a resident interventional radiologist, offering invaluable real-time perspective as a licensed physician currently immersed in and familiar with the field’s needs and intricacies.
Dr. Mohamed began his medical-legal career as the youngest graduate in University of South Florida (USF) history, first-ever M.D./J.D. dual-degree candidate at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Stetson University College of Law, and valedictorian of his law school class. He was invited on account of his top Florida bar exam score to speak on behalf of new attorneys at the Florida Second District Court of Appeal swearing-in ceremony, completed post-graduate year one residency training in general surgery at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University with distinction, and is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
A lifelong scholar, Zayn continues to mentor medical students and law students, as he volunteers at medical clinics and helps coach his alma mater’s Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot team. Zayn has also worked in the patent offices of USF and the Moffitt Cancer Center, helped teach patent law and copyright law at Stetson, and been repeatedly invited to write articles for the World Trademark Review and comment on new developments in the law.
