Overview

Lauren Rota is an Associate in the firm’s General Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Lauren frequently prepares pretrial motions, appellate briefs, mediation statements, complaints, and written discovery requests.

Prior to joining Burr, Lauren was an Assistant Attorney General with the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office. She served in both the Civil Law Division and Law Enforcement & Special Prosecution Division. In these roles, she defended numerous civil rights and civil claims; examined grievance procedures and disciplinary proceedings; and analyzed regulations, policies, and procedures set by state agencies or enforced by state law. Additionally, she litigated negligence claims, healthcare liability, § 1983 violations, and malicious prosecution claims.

Lauren’s experience expands to include complex personal injury and tort cases where she negotiated favorable settlements for clients, consulted with expert witnesses, prepared evidence for trial, and took corporate representative and medical proof depositions.

Lauren obtained her Juris Doctor from Belmont University College of Law. Prior to law school, Lauren graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in writing. Lauren was a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society and she earned the McWhorter Scholarship.
