Overview
Michael is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate practice group. His practice focuses on all areas of real estate transactions, developments, investments, and management, as well as real estate, asset-based, private equity, and corporate transactional lending. Michael routinely represents private equity groups, family offices, public companies, community and regional banks, real estate investment trusts, and other entities and individuals in real estate, lending, and corporate transactions. He also has extensive experience in generally counseling and advising clients on various regulatory, financial, employment, growth, and other legal and business issues facing growing companies in many sectors such as real estate, healthcare, financial services, and hospitality. He also assists his clients in general business counseling, entity formation, joint venture agreements, and related matters, as well as in the areas of land use and zoning, alcoholic beverage licensing, and governmental regulations.
Michael is a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Court mediator and is an engaged member of the community, where he is honored to provide pro bono services to many deserving families as recipients of homes through the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. Michael earned his J.D. from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Florida.
Experience
- Advised numerous family offices, private equity investment funds, and other investors in real estate and financing transactions for retail, hospitality, industrial, residential, multi-family, and other investment properties collectively totaling well over a billion dollars.
- Represented a national publicly-held restaurant chain in numerous real estate transactions, including lease negotiations and real property divestiture work.
- Represented regional and national commercial banks financing hundreds of millions of dollars in loans secured by real estate and other assets.
- Represented national special servicers and finance companies in the workout and foreclosure of commercial loans, as well as the sale and disposition of acquired collateral.
