Overview

Roni Payne is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. Roni’s practice concentrations are commercial litigation and employment law.

Roni works with a variety of businesses on number of employment-related issues. Roni’s experience includes drafting employment handbooks, employee contracts, and specialized agreements such as non-compete, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements. Additionally, Roni has experience preparing and responding to lawsuits, managing discovery processes, participating in mediation, and providing trial support to first-chair attorneys.

Roni attended the University of South Carolina School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude. Throughout law school, Roni was the Student Works Editor for Vol. 74 of the South Carolina Law Review, a Member of the Mock Trial Bar, and Student Attorney in the Veterans Legal Clinic. She also served as a mentor to first-year students through the Student Bar Association. At USC, she was awarded Order of the Coif, Order of the Wig and Robe, Dean’s List, and Best Direct from Judge J. Lyles Glenn Jr. & Terrell Glenn Sr. Mock Trial Competition. She also received CALI Awards in Torts, Legal Research, Analysis & Writing, and Going to Court in South Carolina.

Prior to law school, Roni attended Furman University and graduated magna cum laude. While pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics and International Affairs, Roni was a member of the Furman University Softball Team and received the Southern Conference Commissioner’s Academic Award two years in a row. She was recognized for her outstanding academic performance by the Southern Conference Honor Roll all four years while also maintaining her position on Dean’s List. In addition, she was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. Roni has continued to use her passion for sports to promote awareness and the athletic inclusion of children with physical and mental disabilities through her volunteer work with Mauldin Miracle League, Buddy Walk, Extra Special People, Special Olympics and Valiant Player organizations since 2014.
