Burr & Forman Adds Orlando-Based Corporate and Tax Partner Scott Miller

Firm News

ORLANDO, Fla., May 23, 2017 - Burr & Forman LLP announces the addition of Scott G. Miller as a partner in its Orlando office and the firm's Corporate and Tax practice group. Miller brings more than 23 years of experience counseling clients on estate and wealth preservation planning as well as tax matters and disputes. He joins Burr & Forman from Broad & Cassel, where he was a partner for 17 years.

"Scott's arrival expands our ability to serve our clients. His trust and estate planning and tax practices round out the services we offer our clients, and supports our commitment to serve as business partners and not just as legal counsel," said Eric S. Golden, managing partner of Burr & Forman's Orlando office. "Scott is well-known and respected in the Central Florida legal community for his commitment to client service and the results he obtains. We are excited to add him to our growing Florida roster."

Miller advises clients in all areas of estate planning, including complex gift, generation skipping transfer tax and estate planning, lifetime giving and charitable planning. He also represents taxpayers in gift, generation skipping and estate tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), ranging from audits of returns and administrative appeals within the IRS to Tax Court matters. Miller's experience also includes working as an estate planning consultant for Ernest & Young.

He has been recognized by Super Lawyers, listed among the "Best of the Bar" by the Orlando Business Journal and is designated among Florida Trend's "Legal Elite."

Miller is a member of the American Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association, The Florida Bar's Real Property & Probate and Trust Law Sections, and the Central Florida Estate Planning Council. His leadership also extends to the local community: He serves as vice president for the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida.

Miller received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, his law degree from Boston University School of Law and his masters in taxation from New York University School of Law.
