India Vincent Named to Birmingham Business Journal’s Best of the Bar 2024
India Vincent, Burr & Forman’s Chief Privacy Officer and leader of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy team and Intellectual Property practice group, was selected to the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2024 Best of the Bar. Honorees will be celebrated at an April 11 event hosted at The Harbert Center and in a special section to be published by the Birmingham Business Journal.
In considering India’s inclusion among this year’s Best of the Bar, the publication weighed her servant leadership and her willingness to take on increasingly challenging responsibilities in such a highly technical subject matter area. Throughout her career, India has been willing to go above and beyond to provide outstanding counsel for her clients, many of whom predominantly seek her advice during times of crisis and when facing massive financial exposure and operational risk. Likewise, she is a frequent hand raiser at the firm – willing, interested, and able to help solve complex management and business issues.
India is CIPP/US and CIPM certified, and her areas of practice include cybersecurity, incident response, data privacy (including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, VCPA, and CDPA), software and technology licensing, technology development and research, corporate transactions, trademarks and other aspects of intellectual property. She counsels clients in identifying their valuable data and other proprietary information and developing customized, situationally appropriate security and data protection policies and breach response plans. India provides guidance and serves as counsel for clients responding to a cyber incident, including securing electronic and physical systems, assessing the impact of the incident, complying with all notice requirements, restoring operations, and developing remediation plans to thwart future attacks.
India began her career as an engineer and became interested in the legal profession after working with legal teams on a variety of issues. Today, having been in many of her client’s shoes, she is devoted to helping clients identify, protect, and generate maximum value from their intellectual property, helping them develop and implement policies and procedures to protect their data, and ensuring they recover from any cyber incidents efficiently and in compliance with all legal requirements.
